What: The 2nd annual Unofficial Google+ Film Festival (UGPFF)
When: Nov. 30 – Dec. 2, 2012
Where: Anywhere in the world with an internet connection.
The Unofficial Google+ Film Festival combines social media and new on-line technology from Google to bring an interactive, live, international film festival into people’s homes the weekend of Friday Nov. 30, 2012 starting at 11:00 am PST (GMT -8) until Sunday December 2, 2012 at 3:00 pm PST (GMT -8). Anyone with an internet connection can attend and participate.
Filmmakers from Canada, India, South Korea, Nigeria, Austria, Portugal, USA, France, England, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, Guatemala and Ireland have been selected to show their short films and web series. The filmmakers will also be present (via a Google+ Hangout) to answer questions after their short films play on-line.
In addition, there are live, free film panels with industry experts, an interactive marketplace, and a public film festival lounge where everyone is welcome to drop in to meet other filmmakers and film fans from around the globe. Some panels and panelists include:
- Story Development and Screenwriting with Mike Mitchell (Director of Shrek Forever After), and Pilar Alessandra (story consultant at OnThePage.tv)
- Web Series panel with Tripp Reed (Executive Producer of Dating Rules from my Future Self), Mark Gantt (creator and star of The Bannen Way)
- Financing panel with Brad Wyman (Producer of Monster, and head of film at IndieGoGo), and Ricardo Kleinbaum (Producer Elsa and Fred)
- Music Licensing and supervision with Cary LoGrande (Audiosocket)
In addition to the festival’s online presence, there will be live showings in Asheville, NC and Los Angeles, CA at the Los Angeles Film School.. Admission is free, and donations are being accepted for The Prosthetics For Life Charity. A Red Carpet gala event for all the LA Filmmakers and audience on Saturday December 1st at 7:00 pm PST sponsored by Mingle Media TV and the Red Carpet Report.
Great prizes are being offered by Audiosocket, Zacuto, and other sponsors in various categories for the filmmakers.
